Greater Transparency for Donations

Save Nemo becomes a signatory to Transparency International's ITZ initiative

Herford: Transparency within Save Nemo e.V. is extremely important! We depend on volunteers and donations to carry out our work conscientiously, protecting coral reefs in the world's oceans. Every donation counts.

“We have joined the ITZ so that every member of the public can see how funds are used,” says CEO Diemo Niemann.

The Transparent Civil Society Initiative (Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft, ITZ) encourages participating organisations to volunteer additional information that goes beyond the statutory disclosure requirements for nonprofit organisations in Germany.

The initiative is supported by a respected group of organisations:

• German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI)
• German Fundraising Association
• German Cultural Council
• German League for Nature, Animal and Environment Protection
• German Donations Council
• Maecenata Institute for Philanthropy and Civil Society

• Association of German Development and Humanitarian Aid NGOs (VENRO)
• Federation of German Consumer Organisations (vzbv)

“We want this to give everyone supporting Save Nemo e.V. an extra measure of confidence, knowing that their contribution is being put to good, sustainable and purposeful use — for example, in our next project in the Philippines,” Niemann adds.
